Marisa Franco
New York Times Bestselling Author
2019-21 Executive Branch Fellow at the Millennium Challenge Corporation
What if the things we think build self-esteem are actually holding us back? For Marisa Franco, her upcoming second book, Worth: The New Science of Self-Esteem and Secure Attachment (coming this fall), grew out of a key idea she couldn’t leave behind while writing her first book, Platonic. That idea is self-verification theory, or why we seek out people who confirm our sense of self. “Through writing Platonic, I had my ‘one that got away’ of psychology theories,” she shared. She also credits her STPF experience during COVID with strengthening her ability to adapt and rethink assumptions. This approach continues to shape her work today.
