Qualcomm co-founder Irwin Jacobs and his wife Joan understand the impact and the promise of the S&T Policy Fellowships. That’s why they pledged to give $2 million dollars toward the creation of an endowment to support additional fellow placements on Capitol Hill when STPF raises $5 million.
Why now? Because the demand for legislative branch fellows outstrips the supply nearly three-fold each year.
Today’s goal: Provide a fellow to every congressional office that needs one.
In every branch of government, each additional STPF fellow is a force multiplier for evidence-based policymaking. Executive branch fellows have grown in force over our past 50 years since those placements are supported by executive branch host offices. We are invested in growing every part of the science policy pipeline – today, we focus on the legislative branch, and we hope you will join us!
Today’s progress: As of December 2023, AAAS is two thirds of the way to reaching the match goal. Now is the time to pitch in.
As our world confronts a daunting list of existential challenges, AAAS is continually working to ensure that scientific and evidence-based information is fully and positively integrated into public policy by filling a critical need for scientific and technical support for members of Congress.
