Christina Barstow, Director of Strategic Partnerships, Helvetas
2016-18 Executive Branch Fellow, Millennium Challenge Corporation
Christina is the Director of Strategic Partnerships for Helvetas USA where she supports Helvetas’ water and rural access portfolios. Christina has spent her career focused on research and implementation across a range of sectors including WASH, health, nutrition, energy, and infrastructure. Previously Christina served as an Advisor to the US government funded aid agency, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, as a Science and Technology Policy Fellow for the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Chief Strategy Officer for Bridges to Prosperity. Christina earned a PhD in Environmental Engineering and a Master of Public Health. She currently serves as faculty in CU’s Mortenson Center in Global Engineering and Resilience.
Kevin Cooke, Director, Research Policy, Association of Public Land-grant Universities
2021-22 Executive Branch Fellow, National Science Foundation
Dr. Kevin Cooke is the Director, Research Policy at APLU. He works with members of the APLU Council on Research (COR) to develop understanding and strategy in response to federal government policies and regulations affecting research and innovation programs and to share information and best practices for the administration of university research operations. He is the primary investigator of an NSF GRANTED Conference award which will investigate how the next generation of Vice Presidents of Research can be identified, developed, and diversified.
Adela Ramos, Director of Regulatory Affairs, Leprino Foods
2004-05 ASM Congressional Science & Engineering Fellow, Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry
Adela Ramos is the Director of Regulatory Affairs for Leprino Foods Company, a cheese and nutrition products manufacturer. Adela and her team ensure Leprino’s products are compliant with domestic and international food regulations, and export controls. She previously worked in regulatory affairs for Corteva Agriscience, formerly DuPont Pioneer, seeking global approvals for their biotech seed products. Adela also served as Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor in the Office of Food Safety at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and as a Professional Staff member and Congressional Science Fellow with the U.S. Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee. Adela has a Ph.D. in microbiology from Cornell University and a B.S. from Duke University, and she lives in the Denver area with her husband Peter, and her three children, Manuel, Francisco, and Eliana.
